I modified $abs_us_root & $us_url_root to point to the folders as follow:
<pre>
Code:
$abs_us_root="/var/www/html";
</pre>
$us_url_root="/portal/";

and it worked fine! Thanks!
BTW, I was upgrading since 3.9 (as I remember)
